Sheffield United are preparing to put in a bid for Watford's Darius Henderson, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.
The striker would be a direct replacement for Rob Hulse, who has now completed his 1.75 move to United's Championship rivals Derby.
But the Blades face stiff competition for Henderson, who is also attracting the interest of Championship rivals Birmingham City and Wolves.
The 25-year-old joined Watford in 2005 and scored 13 goals last season.
Meanwhile Jamaican international forward Luton Shelton is on the verge of leaving Bramall Lane.
The Blades are understood to have accepted a bid from Valerenga and the Norwegian side are expected to complete a deal for the 22-year-old this week.
Shelton made 21 appearances for the United last term, scoring 4 goals, he signed from Helsingborgs in 2007.
