Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has ruled out any interest in Barnsley captain Brian Howard.
Media reports have linked the Blades with the 25-year-old midfielder, who scored the winner in the Tykes famous FA Cup win at Liverpool this season.
But Blackwell has told BBC Radio Sheffield that "it's a non-starter".
Meanwhile, Blades plc chairman Kevin McCabe has increased his stake in the club, buying over 18m shares to raise his overall holding to 74.7%.
