Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe's talks with Celtic stalled |
Sheffield United will give defender Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe the rest of this week to prove he is worth a contract at Bramall Lane. The trialist scored Celtic's Scottish Cup final winner in May, but his loan move from Rennes has not been converted into a permanent transfer.
Rennes were demanding a fee from Celtic should the Scottish champions sign the 28-year-old permanently after the loan.
But he is free to join any other club now that his contract has expired.
The Cameroonian joined Celtic on loan in January and won a place in the Celtic first-team during the closing month of the season.
He made five appearances and scored the goal that secured the Scottish Cup final victory over Dunfermline Athletic at Hampden Park.
