Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe enjoyed his time with Celtic |
Top English clubs are lining up to sign Jean-Joel Perrier Doumbe should Celtic decide against re-signing the right-back, his agent has claimed. "Three clubs in the Premier League in England are interested," Willie McKay told BBC Sport.
"But Celtic remain his first choice, although he cannot understand why the negotiations have stalled.
"He won two man of the match awards in the final five games of the season and fully expected Celtic to sign him."
Cameroon international Perrier Doumbe was on loan with Celtic from Rennes for the second half of last season.
And the 28-year-old rounded off his spell with the Scottish champions by scoring the winner against Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup final.
McKay thought Celtic were prepared to hand his client a three-year contract.
But a sticking point could be the 400,000 Rennes would be due from the Glasgow club because of a clause in the loan agreement.
The defender would come free to any other club.
"We still think Celtic manager Gordon Strachan is keen on him, but they may be looking at other options," said McKay.
"And we will have no problem finding him another club."
