Sheff Utd's season ended on a low note |
Sheffield United manager Neil Warnock paid tribute to Wolves' performance after their victory in the Division One play-off final. Wolves side raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half thanks to goals from Mark Kennedy, Nathan Blake and Kenny Miller and Dave Jones' side comfortably defended their lead in the second period.
United hit the post in the second half and Michael Brown also missed a penalty soon after the restart.
"Wolves were worthy winners," said Warnock, who was banned from the touchline for the second half of the game.
"We did not do the things we done all season, but I don't want to take anything from Wolves.
"I am not going to criticise individuals after they have given me so much this season.
"We have had a fantastic season, but we are going to have go away and lick our wounds."
Warnock refused to say why referee Steve Bennett sent him to the touchline.
Warnock was banished to the stands after making complaints about Bennett's handling of the match throughout the half and in the tunnel as the players returned to the dressing room at the interval.
"The referee asked me to go upstairs, but you will have to ask him about it."
