The former Middlesbrough striker netted the only goal in the 114th minute at the Millennium Stadium to take Cardiff into the First Division.

"We've got what it takes," declared Campbell.

"Bring on the big teams, bring on Sunderland and West Ham, all of them.

"I don't think it could have finished any better. To score is just unbelievable. I'm so happy to get out of the Second Division."

Man-of-the-match and City captain Graham Kavanagh said the victory had made up for some disappointing times for both Cardiff fans and players.

"It's an unreal feeling. I've missed out three times and I feel so much for the QPR players. These fans have been absolutely outstanding."

Cardiff manager Lennie Lawrence admitted that he won't remember the final for the quality of its football, but was delighted with the result.

"It's been a great day, not a classic football match," said Lawrence.

"QPR gave it everything and we just shaded it. We're in the First Division and we've got to kick on from there."

After the game QPR manager Ian Holloway could not hide his disappointment.

"I'm disappointed for the lads. We were possibly the better team without scoring," said the QPR boss.

"You have got to take your chances and they did. Good luck to Cardiff, we will get stronger next year.

"I can't fault my team. They've been superb in the second half of the season and we've got to go forward from there.

"We've come a long way this season and we've got to get better.

"I'm so proud of this club. I think we are a monster club and we've just got to keep it going."
