Hooper is closing in on Billy Sharp's club goalscoring record
Scunthorpe United striker Gary Hooper has indicated that he wants to sign a new contract with the League One club.
Although the 21-year-old has over two years left to run on his existing deal, he says he is open to committing himself to a new one.
"I wouldn't mind but we've got to wait and see what the gaffer and chairman say and hopefully it'll get done soon.
"This is a good club who are hopefully looking to get promoted so it would be nice to sign another [deal]," he said.
Hooper quickly won over Iron fans following his summer transfer from Southend with seven goals in this season's first nine games.
And comparisons have been drawn with former Glanford Park favourite Billy Sharp.
I'm going for the 33 to break the record and to be the top scorer in the league

The Essex-born forward already has 27 goals for the campaign, five short of equalling the club's goal-scoring record set by Sharp in the 2006/07 season.
"I'm going for the 33 to break the record and to be the top scorer in the league," he said.
With Scunthorpe already preparing for one Wembley appearance in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final on Sunday week, Hooper's goals could push the North Lincolnshire club towards a second visit via the League One play-offs.
Following their relegation from the Championship last season, the club are looking for an immediate return to the second tier of English football.
