Salisbury manager Nick Holmes praised his side after they were beaten 1-0 at Kettering Town in the Blue Square Premier on Saturday.
John Dempster's goal in the fourth minute of stoppage time was enough to rob Salisbury of a share of the points.
Holmes told BBC Radio Wiltshire: "We played well and created chances.
"Neither side looked like they could muster a shot in the second half. The goal in the 94th minute was the first thing they did, but that's football."
The defeat at Rockingham Road leaves the Whites only two points above the relegation zone and extended their poor run to two wins in 17 games.
Holmes said their poor run of form made Saturday's defeat all the harder to swallow.
"I know we can do better but the run we're in at the moment you have to make things happen for you," said Holmes.
"It was almost there, you just felt if we could have hung on for those final few seconds things could have developed from then on."
