Rushden & Diamonds loan striker Michael Gash is hoping to force his way back into York boss Gary Mills' plans.
The 24-year-old has joined from the Minstermen until the end of the season.
Gash told BBC Radio Northampton: "Darlington came up but Rushden was ideal for me. I can see a team that look strong.
"I haven't played for months so I'm trying to prove a point here and to Gary Mills. I'm not quite at my best yet but a goal will help."

Gash joined York for £55,000 in 2009 but has struggled for regular action and goals this season, scoring just once in 17 matches.
"I was grateful to York for paying that," he said.
"It's a lot of money for me and if I can score goals here and show I am worth that money, I'll be happy."
