Skipper Jamie Stuart to stay with Rushden & Diamonds
Stuart played 47 matches in all competitions for Diamonds last season
Rushden & Diamonds captain Jamie Stuart has signed a new one-year contract at Nene Park.
The 33-year-old defender scooped three awards from supporters for his efforts last season as Diamonds reached the Blue Square Premier play-offs.
"I'm absolutely delighted to have secured Jamie's signing for another season," said manager Justin Edinburgh.
"Jamie has shown his value on and off the pitch as a fantastic leader and has won numerous awards."
Stuart began his career at Charlton and also had spells at Millwall, Bury and Southend before spending five years at Grays Athletic.
He signed for Rushden on a one-year contract in June 2009 and played 47 games in all competitions last season, scoring four goals.
"Hopefully this signing will set an example to the other players out of contract we've offered deals to," added Edinburgh.
"It's great news to take the club forward."
Contract talks are in currently progress with seven other players - Simon Downer, Kurt Robinson, Shane Huke, Max Porter, Mark Byrne, Paul Terry and Aaron O'Connor.
