I will quit next year - Woodhouse

Curtis Woodhouse
Woodhouse won his seventh consecutive fight on Saturday

Rushden & Diamonds midfielder Curtis Woodhouse will quit football at the end of next season to concentrate on his burgeoning boxing career.

The 28-year-old Driffield welterweight won his seventh straight pro fight on Saturday, beating Wayne Downing in just 57 seconds in Birmingham.

Woodhouse told BBC Radio Northampton that he has English title ambitions.

"I've said in 12 months' time I'll fight anybody in the country - not a problem at my weight," he said.

"This time next year I'll be looking to fight for the English title and going from there.

"You win that and then you're looking at the British title, Commonwealth title and things like that.

"I fully believe they're within my grasp. I'm a very strong welterweight."
