Rotherham United have sacked midfielder Gary Roberts for a serious breach of club discipline.
The 23-year-old, who has had drink and gambling problems, made 15 appearances in his five months at the club.
Boss Ronnie Moore told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It's not only once this has happened, it's been several occasions.
"Enough's enough, we can't go on with it. He's a talented player but at the end of the day we can't have him disrupting the dressing room."
Roberts scored three times for the Millers but was sent off in his final appearance against Torquay in February. His contract had been due to expire at the end of the season.
He previously had spells littered with disciplinary problems at Crewe Alexandra and Yeovil Town.
Moore added: "The decision was made by the chairman and myself that this was the road we had to go down."
