The deadline for bids to buy cash-strapped Rotherham United has been extended to Friday 18 April.

The original deadline was set at Friday 11 April, but administrator XL Business Solutions has confirmed to BBC Radio Sheffield it has been moved by a week.

The administrator has revealed seven consortia have been sent sale packs after expressing an interest in buying the League Two club.

The Millers went into administration in March and took a 10 point deduction.

Jeremy Bleazard, of XL Business Solutions, said: "Several interested parties had requested an extension to the original deadline to make offers to purchase the club.

"In the interest of creditors and to achieve the best possible bid for the club, I have agreed to this request and have extended the deadline by one week to 5pm (1700 BST) Friday 18 April.

"All interested parties have been notified of this extension."
