Derek Adams believes getting to the final is an amazing achievement for County

Derek Adams has urged his Ross County players to account for a third top-flight side and lift the Scottish Cup.

The First Division outfit, who take on Dundee United at Hampden on Saturday, have beaten two Scottish Premier League sides en-route to the final.

"We've played against Hibernian and Celtic this year and performed very well," he told BBC Scotland.

"We'll see what happens. Hopefully, it's a good match; we pass the ball well and United are a good side."

Adams said County had been gripped by cup fever and that everyone connected to the club was relishing the prospect of a Hampden final.

"It's been a fantastic week for the players. The club shop has been busy, ticket sales have been extraordinary," Adams said ahead of the 125th Scottish Cup final.

"It's exceeded expectations and the amount of tickets we've been able to sell is tremendous.

"The people of the north have come out in their numbers and they'll be here on Saturday."

"To finish the season with a Scottish Cup final is tremendous for this football club."

All but three of the County players who started against Celtic have played in the SPL, and two of them, goalkeeper Michael McGovern and winger Michael Gardyne, began their careers at Parkhead.

Adams believes such experience will prove invaluable as his men bid to cope with the occasion as well as a United side who comfortably clinched third place in the SPL.

And the 34-year-old thinks many of them will still have something to prove.

"There are people who have obviously written them off in their careers, from the point of view that they have had to move clubs," said Adams, who has a fully-fit squad.

"You always want to prove yourself, it doesn't matter what club you are at.

"You have to have the players who are comfortable. We've got experienced players in the team, players who have played at the highest level in Scotland."
