Chris O'Grady is at his ninth Football League club at the age of only 23

Rochdale have signed striker Chris O'Grady from Oldham Athletic on a permanent basis after both clubs finally agreed on an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old, who originally joined Dale on loan in late August, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal, tieing him to Spotland until June 2012.

He has now scored 12 goals this term in helping to fire Keith Hill's side five points clear at the top of League Two.

Nottingham-born O'Grady began his career with Leicester City in 2003.

After loan moves to Notts County and Rushden and Diamond, he then signed for Rotherham United for £65,000 in January 2007.

After 15 goals in 55 games for the Millers, he moved on to Oldham for an undisclosed fee in May 2008.

But he has made just three league starts in 18 months at Boundary Park.

And he had loan spells at Bury, Bradford City and Stockport County last season before joining Rochdale on 21 August.

"I'm glad to get it over and done with and signed," O'Grady told Rochdale's club website. ''I just want to get back on the pitch and carry on with what we're doing."

Rochdale, who are due to play Port Vale on Saturday, are yet to play a game this year after two successive postponements.
