Reading have signed versatile Canadian Ethan Gage and American midfielder Erik Opsahl on free transfers.
Gage, the 19-year-old captain of Canada Under-20s who can play either in defence or midfield, was a free agent after leaving Vancouver Whitecaps.
Defender Opsahl, 18, has been training with the Royals for a fortnight.
Both players will join club until the end of the season once the necessary international clearance is obtained, while Gage also needs a visa.
Meanwhile, the Royals have loaned out Jack Mills to Dutch side Telstar and fellow defender Michael Hector is set to join Dundalk on loan.
