Church has scored five goals for Reading this season

Reading striker Simon Church has signed a new contract keeping him at the club until the summer of 2013.

The 21-year-old's current deal was due to expire this summer, but he has committed for three more seasons.

"It's been an excellent few days, obviously getting a goal and an excellent result against Liverpool," Church told the club's website.

"It's my first full season in the Championship and now I have the chance to really go for it."

Church has been a regular feature in the Reading team this season and director of football Nick Hammond has said he is pleased with his progress.

"We are delighted that Simon has signed this contract," Hammond said.

"He's developed enormously, especially in these past six months, and he is a great boy with a great mentality."
