Federici played for Australia at the 2008 Olympics

Reading keeper Adam Federici has signed a new deal with the club.

Federici, 23, was set to be out of contract at the end of the season but he has now penned a deal running until the summer of 2011.

"Hopefully, in the long run I can be number one here," the Australian told the official Reading website.

Federici replaced Marcus Hahnemann, who has a calf injury, against Blackpool in midweek and is set to continue as number one against Norwich on Saturday.

Reading director of football Nick Hammond said: "With Marcus' unfortunate injury Adam has the chance to establish himself in the team, which has always been his number one target while he has been here."
