Jelavic scored three times against Celtic for Rapid Vienna last year
Rangers' new £4m signing Nikica Jelavic hopes to emulate his countryman Dado Prso, who was a favourite with fans during a three-year spell at Ibrox.
The Bosnian-born Croatian international completed his move from Rapid Vienna on Friday after passing a medical.
Jelavic told the Rangers website: "I know Dado was a huge favourite of the Rangers fans and if I come even close to him then it will be good.
"I want to try to copy what Dado Prso achieved here."
Prso scored 31 goals in 94 appearances for Rangers, but was forced to retire due to injury in 2007.
Lots of things have happened in the last month or so regarding this transfer but I don't want to think about that now. I only want to concentrate on my future with Rangers

"I spoke to Dado and he told me, 'Look if you have a chance to go to Rangers it is something unbelievable and you must go'," said Jelavic.
"I am glad this whole saga with me, Rapid and Rangers is over and I have signed a four-year contract.
"Lots of things have happened in the last month or so regarding this transfer but I don't want to think about that now. I only want to concentrate on my future with Rangers."
Jelavic scored three times for Rapid in two Europa League group matches against Celtic last season and is regarded as a potential replacement for record scorer Kris Boyd, who left Ibrox in the summer for Middlesbrough.
"I scored three times against Celtic but I had no idea then that I would come to Rangers. But it was something great to score at Parkhead and then score twice back in Vienna," said Jelavic.
"I know the rivalry and I know that Rangers have won the title more than they have."
The former Rapid striker will not be able to play against Hibernian at Easter Road on Sunday, although Rangers are hopeful that he will have clearance in time to face St Johnstone at Ibrox on 28 August.
Failing that, he is likely to make his debut after the international break - against Hamilton Academical at New Douglas Park on 11 September.
