Wilson has enjoyed a surprise run in the Rangers first team
David Weir has taken over from Italian legend Paolo Maldini as the role model for Rangers defender Danny Wilson.
The 17-year-old has kept his place alongside the veteran since making his first-team debut at the end of October.
"I watched a lot of Italian football and I liked Maldini, the way he was so composed and never flustered," Wilson told BBC Alba's CLUB TV.
"I now look up to Davie Weir; he has played at the top his whole career and is a great guy to learn from."
Wilson made his bow in the Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Dundee and has already racked up two appearances in the Champions League.
However, the teenager is still taking in his surprise promotion from the youth ranks.
Anything to do with me moving away is out the question
Danny Wilson
"To make my debut and keep my place in the team has been fantastic for me," he continued.
"It feels kind of surreal at the moment. It has not really sunk in yet but I'm just happy it's going the way it is.
"I didn't think I was going to step up. I just hoped I would keep progressing and be in with a shout of playing.
"I heard a whisper before the Dundee game but it was above expectations to start.
"There was not a great deal of nerves; I just tried to do what I normally do.
"There are some things that I can do better but I am happy with the way that it has gone."
Despite playing in just five matches for Rangers, Wilson has already been linked with a move to England, but he was quick to shrug off the speculation.
"It's not anything I take great notice of," he said. "It has nothing to do with me.
"I'm just young and trying to break into the team.
"Anything to do with me moving away is out the question.
"At the moment, I am just trying to do my best for Rangers."
The first episode of CLUB TV, which sees Celtic and Rangers come together for a unique magazine-style football programme, is repeated on BBC Alba at 2330 GMT on Thursday and 1800 GMT on Saturday.
