Rangers defender Kirk Broadfoot will be sidelined until November following surgery on his left foot.
The 24-year-old has had an operation to shave away part of a bone and have three screws inserted in his foot after a visit to a specialist in London.
Broadfoot will spend six weeks in a cast and faces two months of rest before beginning his rehabilitation.
Rangers understand the problem arose because of a previous stress facture failing to heal properly.
Scotland full-back Broadfoot has not played since Rangers' Co-operative Insurance Cup final defeat to Celtic in mid-March.
