Broadfoot has been a first-team regular at his boyhood heroes
Rangers assistant manager Ally McCoist says he has no reason to believe that Scotland defender Kirk Broadfoot has been told he can leave the club.
Broadfoot's agent had hoped to agree an improved deal for the former St Mirren star but the club's financial problems have so far prevented a new contract.
But McCoist scoffed at the notion that Broadfoot was available for sale.
He said: "I don't think that's the case at all. I'm very much hopeful that Kirk and his advisors can get it sorted."
Broadfoot's representatives were informed that if no deal could be done, Rangers would listen to offers for the player in the summer in an attempt to cut the wage bill.
The Scotland international has a year of his contract remaining and the Ibrox club said in January that all their players were available for sale.
The 24-year-old has featured regularly at right-back for Rangers since moving from the Buddies in 2007.
He arrived at St Mirren from Hibernian in 2002 and marked his Scotland debut with a goal in the World Cup qualifying win over Iceland last September.
