Darcheville was hoping Uefa would reduce his European ban |
Rangers striker Jean-Claude Darcheville must serve a three-game European ban after Uefa turned down the Ibrox club's appeal against the punishment. The Frenchman will miss the Uefa Cup matches against Panathinaikos on 13 February and 21 February.
He will also be absent for the first leg of a last-16 match against Werder Bremen or Braga, if Rangers progress.
Darcheville was ordered off during the Champions League defeat by Lyon in December for stamping on Kim Kallstrom.
He was shown a red card late in the 3-0 defeat in Glasgow that ended the Ibrox club's campaign in Europe's premier tournament.
After the game, Darcheville said: "I always take responsibility for myself, but the referee got it wrong.
"Maybe it was a yellow card. I was very surprised when I saw the red card."
Kallstrom had also played down the "little stamp", which caused him no damage.
"All footballers are there to play in front of these fantastic crowds and there is a lot of emotion and I hope he will not get a long suspension because it was just frustration," said the Swedish international.
