Rodriguez spent six seasons with Monaco before moving to Ibrox |
Former Rangers defender Julian Rodriguez says he is happy to be returning to France after completing his move to Marseille. The 28-year-old, who has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal, said he was "proud" to join the club he supported as a child.
"I am from this region, so I'm proud to sign for OM," said Rodriguez.
"When I was young, I came to watch matches with my father at the Veledrome. It's sentimental."
Rodriguez joined Rangers from Monaco in 2005, but fell out of favour at Ibrox.
However, the Frenchman said he did not regret moving to Scotland.
"There is always something you can take from a club. I learnt a lot of things over there," he said.
"But the possibility of returning to France and a great club like OM is what I was looking for.
"In Scotland, there was a very good atmosphere, but I was abroad, I wasn't at home."
Rodriguez could make his debut for Marseille in Sunday's Ligue 1 game at Rennes.
