Burke was offered a new Rangers contract in October |
Rangers winger Chris Burke hopes that his future lies at Ibrox despite having failed to agree a new deal at the club. The injury-prone 23-year-old's contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he will be free to negotiate with other clubs in January.
"I can't really tell you much," he told Rangers News. "All I will say is that Rangers is my first choice and I do want to stay here.
"Hopefully my future will be sorted and sooner rather than later."
Burke, who joined Rangers in 2000, was offered new terms in October but has put contract talks on hold.
He suffered a third injury of the season at Celtic Park on 23 September and underwent surgery to repair damaged ligaments in his left shoulder.
"The shoulder injury has been frustrating but what a lot of people don't realise is that I've done it twice before in training and that's when it really happened," added Burke.
"The ligaments in my arm were a bit weakened so all it took was a tug on my arm and the shoulder actually came out of the socket which was quite painful.
"That's why I knew in the Celtic game what had happened even though it probably looked to most people that not very much had happened.
"It got to the point that with just a little bit of contact the arm would come out so something had to be done."
