Rangers winger Chris Burke has followed the example of Celtic's Shaun Maloney by postponing talks over a new contract until January, BBC Sport understands. And it has led to speculation that both could sign a pre-contract agreement with other clubs during the transfer window, or even be transferred.
Rangers offered Burke an extension to his contract in October.
But a Rangers source has confirmed that 22-year-old Scotland international Burke has delayed a decision.
His present contract runs out in the summer.
Burke is presently on the sidelines through injury.
Meanwhile, Rangers have had no approach yet from Zenit St Petersburg to make defender Fernando Ricksen's loan move a permanent transfer.
However, his agent is due to have talks with the Russian club this month.
