Rangers have missed out on Elmander (left) but Clement could be on his way |
Rangers have missed out on the signing of Sweden international forward Johan Elmander after the striker opted to join Toulouse from Brondby. The 25-year-old had been a target for Gers boss Paul Le Guen but Elmander will now make the move to France in a four-year deal with Toulouse.
But Rangers are on the verge of signing Jeremy Clement from Lyon.
The 21-year-old midfielder will fly out with Rangers on their pre-season tour of South Africa.
He said: "I've made my mind up that I want to come to Scotland to further my career under Paul Le Guen.
 | My mind was made up by the time I'd left Scotland |
"I'll be in Scotland on Friday to sign my contract and start a new and exciting chapter in my life.
"I really can't wait to be part of Rangers and to experience the thrill of playing in front of their fans.
"They gave me a tour of the stadium, the training ground and Glasgow and I was blown away by it all. If I didn't know how big a club Rangers were before, I do now.
"I was told by Paul Le Guen to go back to France to relax and think things over for a few days but I didn't need that time. My mind was made up by the time I'd left Scotland."
