Craig Winter

Raith Rovers have signed midfielder Craig Winter from Dumbarton for an undisclosed, four-figure fee.

And the Second Division outfit have also re-signed strikers Steve Hislop and Derek Carcary.

Winter, who began his career with Rovers before moving to Cowdenbeath, Brechin then Dumbarton, in January 2006, has signed a two-year deal.

Rovers manager John McGlynn said: "There were a number of clubs after Craig's signature."

Winter was a regular starter this season as the Sons missed out on promotion from Division Three.

"He is well known to Gary Kirk, having worked under both Gary and Craig Levein at Cowdenbeath," said McGlynn.
My plan is to go down under for a year

"He played for Dumbarton against us in the Scottish Cup tie and impressed me with his performance on that day."

Former East Stirlingshire, Ross County, Inverness and Gilingham striker Hislop has also impressed McGlynn since signing for Rovers from Livingston in January.

Carcary also joined the Kirkcaldy club in January after being released by Rangers.

Meanwhile, Dumbarton manager Gerry McCabe has revealed his interest in signing midfielder John-Paul McBride, who has left Division Three rivals Stenhousemuir.

But winger Chris Boyle is poised to the Sons, having received offers from Perth and Melbourne.

"I'm 90% sure that my move to Australia will come about," he told the club website.

"I was going to do it last summer, but I was really upset at getting relegated I wanted to stay and help us get back up.

"Although I haven't signed anything yet, my plan is to go down under for a year."

Defender Craig Brittain is to be involved in coaching next season under McCabe, who has offered a similar role to midfielder John Henry.
