Reid completes loan switch to QPR

Blackburn midfielder Steven Reid has completed his loan move to Queens Park Rangers until 19 December.

Reid, 28, joined Rovers from Millwall in July 2003 but has seen the last 12 months of his career wrecked by injury.

He told BBC Radio Lancashire: "After six and a half years this is a big change for me.

"Ultimately the idea of a loan move is to get away, play some games, come back to your club and play a big part. We'll see how it goes."

A serious knee injury, followed by hamstring and Achilles tendon problems have restricted Reid to just seven domestic games since the beginning of last season.

The Republic of Ireland international, who has made a total of 127 appearances for Rovers, will provide cover for the Rangers midfield after long-term injuries to both Gavin Mahon and Martin Rowlands.

He said: "It's a month, it can be extended at the end of the month depending on both parties and myself.

"Hopefully I'll be involved in every game and in that month there are five or six games so it's a good chance to get the match fitness up.

"It's a great step in the right direction and one that I am really looking forward to."

Reid, who is out of contract at Ewood Park at the end of the season, is expected to go straight into the QPR squad for Saturday's Championship clash with Doncaster.
