Preston's Paul McKenna has signed a new three-year contract which replaces the existing one due to expire in 2009.
The North End captain, 30, joined his home-town club as a 14-year-old and has since gone on to make more than 400 appearances, scoring 30 goals.
"It's been going on a few months so it's nice to get it finalised," McKenna told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"I know my future now and obviously that's more or less the whole of my career placed with Preston."

"I can get on with playing for the team now and obviously getting over that final hurdle that everyone wants - and that's us getting promotion."
McKenna made his Preston debut in 1997 under the management of Gary Peters and has represented six different managers in the past 11 years.
"As I've grown up the club has got bigger and bigger. I started when the club was struggling in the third division. You look around today and you've got a magnificent stadium now, and a great stage to play at.
"There is an air of optimism here since the new manager arrived; a change of attitude. The stadium is finished, money is being ploughed in and you just get the feeling this club is going places."
