Preston manager Alan Irvine has backed defender Callum Davidson to improve the club's dismal record from the penalty spot this season.
North End had missed five of their eight penalties awarded before Davidson levelled the scoring against Wolves at Deepdale on Tuesday as they won 2-1.
Irvine told BBC Radio Lancashire: "We realised we had to get somebody with a very strong character.
"As far as I'm concerned we don't have many better than Callum."
The midweek victory over Wolves lifted North End up to 15th in the Championship.
Davidson will resume his role as Preston's penalty taker on Saturday in the Lancashire derby against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road.
Blackpool against Preston is live on BBC Radio Lancashire from 1230 GMT on 95.5, 103.9 & 104.5 FM, 855 & 1557 AM and DAB Digital Radio.
