Preston North End veteran defender Graham Alexander has signed for rivals Burnley after the two clubs agreed a 200,000 fee. The 35-year-old, the club captain, has made more than 350 league appearances since joining North End in March 1999.
But Preston chairman Derek Shaw said: "We didn't particularly want to sell Graham but he has the comfort of a two-year contract at Burnley.
"And we feel that it is too good a deal to turn down."

Alexander joined Preston for 50,000 from Luton and has since become a Scotland international.
He is an immensely popular figure at Deepdale but Shaw added: "We have got Billy Jones waiting in the wings.
"He is 15 years younger and hopefully he is one of the best prospects at right-back."
Preston have also named summer signing Kevin Nicholls as their new captain.
