Preston have failed in an attempt to bring former skipper Chris Lucketti back to Deepdale in a loan deal. Defender Lucketti moved to Sheffield United on loan in March this year before securing a permanent move.
However, his opportunities have been limited at Bramall Lane and he has made just three appearances for the Blades.
Current injury problems at Sheffield United mean it is unlikely the 34-year-old will return, but Preston are also keen on a permanent deal.
