Preston manager Paul Simpson wants an immediate response from his side after their Carling Cup defeat at Port Vale. North End lost 2-1 and Simpson said: "As a team we were disappointing.
"After the match we tried to outline a few problems and we are working away to bring some quality players in to improve the squad.
"Surely that will be a kick up the backside for the players. If we carry on playing like we did, it shows how desperate we are to make changes."
