Kranjcar blow mars Portsmouth win

Niko Kranjcar is stretchered off in the match against Bolton
Kranjcar will have a scan on Monday to determine the severity of the injury

Portsmouth midfielder Niko Kranjcar was stretchered off with an ankle injury in Portsmouth's 1-0 home win over Bolton.

The influential midfielder is expected to miss Pompey's visit to Manchester United on Wednesday and may face a longer spell on the sidelines.

The Croatia international, 24, was carried off in the 75th minute after a challenge by Gavin McCann.

He appeared to be in agony as paramedics arrived carrying oxygen but later left the ground on foot.

Pompey will wait until Monday to give him a scan.

"It looks like a twisted ankle but it is still a blow for us because he's an important player for us, especially in a small-ish squad," manager Paul Hart said.

"I certainly wouldn't expect him to be available for the game at United on Wednesday and it could be a worry long term."

Kranjar has been beset by injury this season. He missed the beginning of the campaign following an ankle operation and tore a groin muscle in January.
