New Portsmouth first-team coach Johnny Metgod has been tipped to be a success by Southampton reserve boss Mark Wotte.
Wotte was director of football at Feyenoord when Metgod was on the coaching staff.
He told BBC Radio Solent: "He is very helpful and very good at analysing matches and is very good at supporting the manager and is very loyal.
"That loyalty with his qualities is very important. I think Tony made a very good choice."
He added: "He has big experience as an assistant manager and he knows how to fit into this role.
"A lot of coaches want to be the number one, but Johnny knows that he is a very good number two."
