Former technical director Wotte is keen for a more hands-on role |
Feyenoord believe that their former technical director Mark Wotte is on his way to managerless Southampton. A board member of the Dutch club told BBC Radio Solent that it is "a fair guess" that Wotte will be joining the Championship outfit.
"We don't know who he's talking to but I think he was in England last Monday," said Chris Woerts.
"Clive Woodward was at our recent game with PSV Eindhoven. It's a fair guess to say he could go to Southampton."
Wotte had asked to be released from his contract at the Rotterdam side so he can be "on the field of play again".
Southampton have been under the caretaker charge of Dave Bassett and Dennis Wise since Harry Redknapp left to re-join local rivals Portsmouth earlier this month.
Wotte, 45, has been at Feyenoord since 2004. Before that he coached Den Haag, FC Utrecht, FC Den Bosch and Willem II.
