Port Vale midfielder Doug Loft eyes first team return
Loft has scored twice in 25 appearances for Vale
Port Vale midfielder Doug Loft hopes his cameo role at Darlington on Tuesday will earn him a first team recall.
At 1-0 down Loft came off the bench and scored Port Vale's equaliser, inspiring a 3-1 win.
Injuries have restricted the 23-year-old to just 20 starts this season since arriving from Brighton last year.
He told BBC Radio Stoke:"Everyone knows I suffer from injuries. Hopefully this has changed the manager's mind. I'll just have to wait and see."
Loft has only started one game in the last 13 matches for but hopes his injuries are now behind him.
"This is the fittest I've felt this season. Hopefully it's showing and I can continue doing that," he said.
If Loft is to get a rare start in the Valiants midfield he will have to battle it out with captain Tommy Fraser who returns from a two-match ban for this Saturday's visit of play-off chasing Northampton.
