Adams has guided Port Vale to shock wins over both Sheffield clubs
Port Vale manager Micky Adams believes his team were worthy 2-0 winners over Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the second round of the Carling Cup.
Goals from Kris Taylor and Rob Taylor helped Vale complete the Steel City double, having already knocked out Sheffield United in the first round.
Adams told BBC Radio Stoke: "It was a magnificent team performance.
"If we go out with the same sort of endeavour as we did tonight, then we're a match for anybody."
The chances of an upset were aided when Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers was sent off in the first half for a head-butt on Vale skipper Tommy Fraser.
"People will say that was a turning point and I can't disagree with that," said Adams.
"Having said that, we started very well and I was delighted with the way we were playing."
Vale are the only League Two side definitely in the hat for the third round draw on Saturday.
Rotherham United are the only other team from the fourth tier that could join them, if they win against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on Wednesday.
