Port Vale manager Micky Adams has praised trialist Zoumana Bakayogo after he featured in the 1-1 draw against AFC Telford United.
The 22-year-old defender, who has had spells in England with Millwall and Brighton, is available on a free.
"He's not costing us anything so we can have a look at him. I thought he did fantastically well in the 60 minutes he played," Adams told BBC Radio Stoke.
David Howland scored Vale's equaliser in Tuesday's game at Bucks Head.
Adams continued: "I've got a fantastic relationship with an agency in France. They know the type of player that I like, and they recommended the player to me."
Vale fell behind after 26 minutes when Chris Martin failed to keep out a shot from Telford's Phil Trainer, but the visitors were soon on level terms thanks to a long-range effort from Howland.
"We stepped up our work from the Biddulph defeat, and the commitment was there for all to see," added the Vale manager.
"But the thing I'm most disappointed about was our passing, which was really poor."
