Port Vale have withdrawn the offer of a one-year contract to defender Paul Edwards, BBC Radio Stoke understands.

The 29-year-old was offered the deal in May, but it has now been withdrawn following Micky Adams appointment as the Valiants' new manager.

Injuries have restricted the left-back to just 36 starts for Vale since joining from Oldham in June 2007.

He is now being linked with a move to Chesterfield to team up with his former manager at Oldham, John Sheridan.
