Sinnott spent just 10 months as manager at Port Vale

Port Vale have avoided a courtroom battle with former manager Lee Sinnott after reaching an agreement over the remainder of his contract.

The current Bradford Park Avenue boss started legal proceedings against the League Two outfit, who sacked him in September 2008.

Vale chairman Bill Bratt told BBC Radio Stoke: "We came to an agreement that's suitable for Lee and for Port Vale.

"We need to get on with our lives now and we wish Lee all the best."

Sinnott left Vale Park after just 10 months in charge.

He claimed that the remainder of his contract should have been paid up within 28 days of his dismissal, and announced in January that he would be starting legal proceedings against the club.

Port Vale maintained that Sinnott was still on the payroll and his wages were being paid in his account on a monthly basis.

Bratt added: "It is regrettable the way things have gone, when you look back you always think you could have done things differently.

"We can all learn from our mistakes. We're happy with the compromise we made with Lee and it hasn't compromised the finances of the club."

Sinnott declined to comment to BBC Radio Stoke about the matter.
