Port Vale chairman Bill Bratt has told BBC Radio Stoke that the club have made an improved contract offer to midfielder Danny Whitaker.

"Danny knows that we want him to stay at Port Vale," said Bratt.

"I think he's happy here and he wants to play for us. He will now go away and think about the offer and hopefully come back with a positive answer."

Whitaker, 27, who joined the Valiants in 2006 from Macclesfield Town, has made nearly 100 first team appearances.
