Port Vale captain Paul Harsley has admitted he faces a tough decision whether to stay at the club.

Harsley, 29, is out of contract and is one of four players to be offered new deals by manager Lee Sinnott.

He told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's not all about money, but that obviously comes into it, hopefully something can be sorted in the next month or so."

"I love it at Port Vale, especially being the captain as well. It gives me a bit more feeling towards the club."

Harsley, who won Vale's player of the season award, added: "It's hard because budgets are going down and that means wages will be going down too.

"I travel in from Manchester every day and I've got a young family to consider.

"Sometimes you have to look at the bigger picture, but that's not to say I don't want to play for Port Vale.

"I'll keep talking to Port Vale and hopefully we will sort something out."

Budgets will be significantly reduced next season as Vale prepare for life in League Two, meaning Sinnott will turn to a number of the club's youth players to join up with the first-team squad.

Six players under the age of 20 were involved in Vale's 1-1 draw at Southend, and Harsley feels the younger players will have a part to play next season.

"They've been a credit to themselves with what they've achieved and with the position we're in, the manager has given them a chance.

"It's up to them now to show that they're good enough, and hopefully next season they'll kick on and make themselves regulars."
