Plymouth Argyle have confirmed that midfielder Simon Walton has returned to the club after having his loan at Sheffield United cancelled.

The 22-year-old picked up a cruciate knee ligament injury during a pre-season friendly against Mansfield.

Plymouth boss Peter Reid said: "The loan has been cancelled so Sheffield United can bring in another player.

"He [Walton] had an operation in Bradford and we will now be monitoring him closely."

Plymouth have also revealed that striker Rory Fallon has undergone surgery on a hernia in his groin.
