Plymouth place Seip back on list

Plymouth Argyle have placed Dutch defender Marcel Seip on the transfer list after a breach of discipline.

Pilgrims boss Paul Sturrock told the club's website that Seip had been guilty of an "indiscretion" and fined two weeks' wages.

Sturrock also put Seip on the transfer list in 2008 after the defender refused to go on the bench for a league game against Charlton Athletic.

The 26-year-old Dutchman has been at Home Park since August 2006.

Sturrock said: "We know he can't transfer anywhere at this time but we would like to think the first step would be going out on loan."

The departure of Seip could leave the Pilgrims with a shortage of central defenders after Sturrock was unable to tempt former loan signing Craig Cathcart back to the club last week.

Cathcart was also linked with a move to Newcastle, but the Manchester United defender did not leave Old Trafford before the transfer window closed.

Without Seip, Plymouth's only recognised central defenders are Krisztian Timar, Reda Johnson and Gary Sawyer. Summer signing Kari Arnason is a midfielder who has been deployed at centre-half.
