Szelesi given chance by Plymouth

Plymouth Argyle are set to give a start to trialist Zoltan Szelesi, when they take on Romanian club FC Unirea on Wednesday evening.

The 27-year-old Hungary defender, who was at Strasbourg last term, arrived at the Pilgrims' training camp at the University of Stirling on Tuesday.

FC Unirea qualified for the Champions League last season and are expected to provide a stiff test for the Pilgrims.

Carl Fletcher and David McNamee will also be in Plymouth's line-up.

Szelesi's debut comes less than a week after Argyle completed the signing of Iceland midfielder Kari Arnason who was also on trial at the club.

Plymouth lost 2-1 in a pre-season friendly against Livingston on Tuesday evening and manager Paul Sturrock is hoping Wednesday's game will give his squad a chance to learn from the Romanian side.

"Unirea play a European style with a slow build-up then, all of a sudden will be quite quick," Sturrock told the club's website.

"The one good things is that we are going to get practice at pressing the ball because they are going to have it a lot of the time."
