Plymouth Argyle captain Karl Duguid will be out for up to six weeks after tests confirmed he has a tear in his calf muscle.
The 30-year-old was forced off after 15 minutes of Argyle's 2-1 win over Cardiff City on Saturday at Home Park.
He did not feature in Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Southampton.
The former Colchester trainee joined the Pilgrims in the summer and has formed a strong partnership with Luke Summerfield in central middle.
