Plymouth Argyle boss Paul Sturrock said former roofer Craig Noone has made a positive start to his football career.
The 20-year-old winger left his life as a roofer in Merseyside to join Home Park on a two-year contract from Blue Square North part-timers.
"He is a hungry player and I would have no hesitation giving a big-part in the team," said Sturrock.
Noone made his debut in the 5-2 reserve team defeat at Swindon on Tuesday, where he impressed his boss.
Sturrock added: "People look at the result of the reserves but I was very pleased. Swindon played a very strong team on the day but we had some excellent performances from the young players.
"Craig needs a good feed and he will be up to speed. He could be an impact player already, but I have got too many of them. If I bring people in now they need to be starters."
