Plymouth Argyle's player of the season Krisztian Timar has vowed to return as an equally confident player after surgery for a head injury.

The Hungarian accidentally clashed heads with Wolves defender George Elokobi on the final day of the season.

"I will be brave and confident with my heading again. It is my style, I can only play football like this," Timar said.

He smashed a bone in his head but doctors have begun building it back up.

'Best season'

"I am very well. Every day I am feeling better and getting better," Timar said.

"It was a very, very successful operation and I am very pleased with the doctor."

It was a disappointing end to the Hungarian's first full season in the English league, which he described as "probably the best season of my career."

Timar said he would miss pre-season games to be sure of a full recovery.

But he remains optimistic about his chances of being fully fit early in the season.

"I might be OK for the first game of next season but I don't think I need to rush or come back too early," he said.
